How Team Classification Works
The Team Classification is calculated by adding the stage times of each team’s three best-placed riders every day.
✅ Time bonuses and penalties are ignored.
✅ The team with the lowest cumulative time leads the classification.
✅ The leading team wears yellow race numbers and helmets in the peloton the following stage.
🥇 What Do the Yellow Numbers Mean?
Unlike other jerseys, the Team Classification prize isn’t worn — it’s displayed through:
- Yellow back numbers on rider bibs
- Yellow helmets for easy peloton recognition
It signals collective dominance, strength in depth, and tactical brilliance — key attributes at Grand Tour level.
